We welcome enrolments at all year levels. Our Early Learning Centre staff work closely with our Foundation teachers to ensure students are familiar with the school. Progressively our Kinder students utilize the school spaces including the Resource Centre, gymnasium and Garden. Foundation students join kinder students for lunch in their space and the kinder students join Foundation Students for shared lunches across the year. Our staff are working to provide a seamless transition from the Victorian Early Years Development Learning Framework (in use in the kinder) to the Victorian Curriculum (in use in primary school). Where possible our Kinder students participate in whole school events such as Walkathon, Mother’s Day/Father’s Day stalls and sausage sizzles.
We also transition students who have not attended our Kinder by visiting them at their kinder centres, holding discussions with Kinder staff and utilizing transition statements. Four transition sessions are held late in term four to assist both staff and students to be ready for school in the following year.
Transition information is also shared between year 6 and year 7 teachers. Year six students participate in a week long transition program at Middle Years College in November-December.
As a smaller school transitions between year levels is not difficult as teachers and students usually know each other but an opportunity is held in the last week of school.
